Helping Hands is a group of people who meet the second and fourth Saturdays each month from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. To join us, go all the way around to the side by the kitchen. There are double doors that go directly into the basement. We will see your face and let you in with a welcoming cheer and a hug! You just may learn a new skill. I guarantee that you will make new friends. Contact us for more information.
We started to sew baby blankets for the Linus Blanket project. Linus Blankets can be sewn or knitted or crocheted by anyone. There are drop-off locations for the donations. The blankets are then picked up, cleaned and distributed to Tri-state area hospitals, shelters, police stations, fire stations, anywhere a blanket could be used to comfort someone in need. A newsletter is received several times a year to keep us updated on the requirements and needs of the organization and to answer questions.
We do volunteer work in a variety of ways. We helped create gift items for a shopping day for the handicapped. The mother of a 43-year-old daughter with Down Syndrome was very excited about her daughter getting to shop.
Our goal is to find other ways to serve the people in our church and in the community through the use of our hands. We would like to have a mending day to do repair work on clothing for those people who can't fix or don't have time to fix ripped seams or attach missing buttons. We could knit hats and mittens for the homeless. We have plenty of extra knitting needles and crochet hooks. Let us know if you have any suggestions.
